All Saints’ is a congregation in which all ages and generations are valued and valuable partners in every facet of our life—worship, learning, service, friendship and celebration. Most of our life is intergenerational, as we worship, learn, serve, celebrate, welcome, and grow in faith together.
Worship:
Children and youth are welcome and encouraged to be full partners in worship as each desires and is able. Activity bags stocked with crayons, coloring paper, stories, soft toys, and puzzles are available for the very youngest to use. Everyone comes to the Communion rail together. From the 3rd grade on, youth are encouraged to take leadership roles as acolytes, readers, leaders (and sometimes writers) of prayers, singers, musicians, ushers and greeters, actors in seasonal dramas and festive processions.
Infants & Preschool:
A bright, well-outfitted nursery and preschool room is open and staffed by trained, loving caregivers from 9am through the end of the 10am worship service every Sunday.
Children ages 4/5 through 5th grade:
Our Sunday morning children’s program is a multi-age Godly Play classroom. Godly Play is an approach to religious education that goes beyond the traditional, moral-informational approach to truly nurture the spiritual nature of the child. The goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language to enable them to know God first-hand rather than just knowing about God (second-hand knowledge). In Godly Play, our children hear, wonder about and learn biblical stories, sacraments, parables, silence, and community. In Godly Play, children are encouraged and supported in their individual spiritual journeys so that they can truly own their faith. Each child is able to engage the day’s story in a developmentally appropriate way, to wonder and to respond in corresponding ways—through art, journaling, music, drama, research, becoming a storyteller for others.
