California Bach Society Concert: CH

March 3, 2018 - 8:00pm - 9:00pm

California Bach Society Paul Flight, Artistic Director   presents   THE GERMAN ROMANTICS   Saturday, March 3, 8:00 p.m.  Doors open 30 minutes prior to performance   Artistic Director Paul Flight leads the 30-voice California Bach Society in a stunning program of the German Romantics. Austria/Germany was an increasingly prosperous region in the 19th century. The middle classes had more leisure time, and there was a great interest in amateur music-making, especially choral singing. Composers such as Schumann, Brahms, and Mendelssohn responded to the demand for new pieces, composing large-scale sacred works, motets, and secular partsongs. Lesser-known composers also created works for the new Singvereine (choral societies). Our concert will feature music by Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, Gustav Jenner, and Joseph Rheinberger, and works by the best-loved German Romantic composers.        Advance Ticket Prices: General - $30, Senior - $20, Students and Under 30 - $10 At the door: General - $35, Senior - $25, Students and Under 30 - $10   Students: please bring your ID to show at the door.   Special Early Bird Offer for All Saints Parishioners!
